A 2mm self-adhesive butyl-rubber mat with an aluminium foil face. It damps the resonance of thin metal body panels and turns vibration into low-level heat. It’s our all-round mat, with a good balance of weight and performance.

Sound deadening mats are layer 1: they go straight onto bare metal. Add ST-Mat or acoustic felt on top for the best result. See Soundproofing Basics.
How to install
- Degrease the metal with panel thinners or an alcohol-based cleaner. Don’t use white spirit.
- Cut to shape. Wear gloves, because the foil edges are sharp.
- Peel off the backing and press the mat into place.
- Roll it firmly with a metal roller to remove all air pockets.
- Fit at +16 to +18 °C or warmer. If it’s cold, warm the mat with a hairdryer or heat gun.
- Cover at least 50% of each panel.
